Garden Bed

I’m thankful to have this poem featured by the Good, True, & Beautiful Mail Club, a monthly ministry equipping Christian women through Scripture, practical wisdom, and the beauty of faithful living. I’m grateful to have my work included alongside a ministry devoted to helping women not simply admire what is good, true, and beautiful—but to live it. Learn more about their work on their website.

Garden Bed

Each jasmine’s star bloom,
Rock roses in flower,
The sun at its noon—
Arriving, the hour.

Winter was long,
The soil heavy clay,
Yet this garden bed
Shows it won’t stay.

Each shoot springing forth
Reminds me of those
Who pour of themselves
So newness can grow.

Each prayer and each toil,
The burdens we bear,
Tend into soil—
The scent of spring air.

I pray that someday
I’ll love well like you,
Who show friends the way
To togetherness, too.

It’s those who will mend,
Who sit and who nourish—
The treasure: a friend
Who sees you can flourish.
