Rain
The older I get,
I begin to see
The wonders that sit,
All around me.
I love the smell of
A fresh new rain.
Glinting beads above,
Run the wood grain.
This loamy twist
And dewy embrace,
My cheeks now kissed
For what I now know is grace.
What once was to flee,
The sign of all sorrow.
I really now see
Brings better tomorrows
Even in storms,
When rain pellets sting.
Something transforms—
What’s coming is spring.
I’ve been through the storm
I’m older, I know.
Nothing’s forever torn:
It’s what’s needed to grow.
